As the proud father of two busy young kids, Jay seeks to leverage his experience in personal finance and corporate operations roles to simplify household payroll and tax filing for families. Jay started his career as a financial planner and investment consultant before spending four years at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he served as a Special Adviser in the Cyber Division and in the Director’s Office. In that time Jay led financial and administrative matters for the division, and later worked to establish an office tasked with building the Bureau’s partnerships with the private sector.
Jay has a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MBA from Georgetown University.
Andrew brings a background in management consulting to HomeWork Solutions seeking to help improve operational efficiencies in the household payroll and tax filing processes. He has a deep passion for doing things the right way and makes client satisfaction his number one priority. He brings a deep knowledge in developing and implementing new systems, business process re-engineering, policy development, and data management.
Andrew has a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from George Mason University.
Troy comes to HWS as a results-driven finance professional with a proven track record in internal controls, financial analysis, and project management. With two years of experience at PwC in their assurance practice and an additional two years as a Senior Accountant at 2U, Inc., Troy has developed a comprehensive skill set in financial management and compliance. As a registered CPA in the state of Virginia, Troy brings a depth of knowledge in accounting principles and regulatory standards, coupled with a strategic mindset to drive business success.
Troy has a BA in Finance and an MA in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia.
Co-founded HomeWork Solutions in 1993 to provide payroll and tax services to families employing household workers. Kathy has extensive experience preparing ‘nanny tax’ payroll taxes. She is the author of numerous articles on this topic and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, and the Congressional Quarterly. She also consulted with Senate staffers in the drafting of the 1994 Nanny Tax Law.
Webb is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College. She is the former President of the International Nanny Association, the leading professional association in the in-home childcare industry.
Justin comes to HWS from a career in national security, having worked at the FBI in Counterintelligence, the Cyber and Criminal Branch, and in the Office of General Counsel. He also served as a consultant to US Intelligence and Law Enforcement communities through the national security divisions of PwC, Guidehouse, and Amazon Web Services. Justin focuses on company-wide operations, as well as creating a seamless customer experience.
Justin holds a Bachelor’s degree from Carleton College, a Master’s degree from Harvard University, and an MBA from Yale University.
Jose brings over a decade of experience in finance and accounting to HWS, where he focuses on optimizing company operations and enhancing the client experience. He began his career in the Audit Practice at Grant Thornton before transitioning to The Carlyle Group, where he oversaw accounting for multiple private equity funds and supported limited partners. Most recently, Jose led corporate financial planning and analysis as Finance Manager at Grid Networks.

Em is a senior member of our payroll team, specializing in complex client situations and partner relationships. Over her tenure at HomeWork Solutions, she has become an expert in payroll and tax rules. She has a background as a child care provider, offering a sympathetic perspective on employee-employer relationships.
Em spends her free time playing with her cats, watching sports (Go Blue!), and quilting. She has an Associates’s Degree in General Studies and is presently working towards her B.S. in Economics.
A proud mother of two outstanding women in their early 30’s and a grandmother of 3 (1 boy and 2 girls ages ranging from 4 to 15 year old), Denise joined Homework Solutions in Feb of 2007. She brought with her 17 years of customer service and bookkeeping experience. Denise has worn many hats here in her tenure. She’s always willing to pitch in and help wherever needed. Denise’s focus is accounting and finance support.
Oruno is a senior member of the Tax Department. His tenure at HomeWork Solutions has enabled him to gain a high-level knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax laws across the 50 states and the District of Columbia. This knowledge enables him to advocate for his clients when addressing notices from the State and the IRS. He’s also gained a deep understanding of payroll and payroll tax set up as they pertain to household employment laws which ensure clients maintain their compliance with tax code.
Oruno has a B.A. in accounting and finance from West Virginia University and an MBA from Shenandoah University.
As a long-term employee of HomeWork Solutions, Angel has enjoyed a variety of positions within the company. During brief assignments outside of HomeWork Solutions (HWS), Angel delved into Project Management, General Ledger Accounting and Auditing while employed at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and what was the Financial Consulting arm of Price Waterhouse at that time. She brings her financial and project management skills to HWS in helping to streamline operations and simplify household payroll and tax filings for our valued clients. She is a proud mother of two children who have been a part of the HomeWork Solutions community since birth.
Angel holds a BS in Accounting from George Mason University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Virginia.

As a proud mother of three children, including a set of twins, Rachel joined our team in 2019 to become our Agency Partner Specialist. Rachel is a natural fit for this position, with a solid 20-year foundation in the in-home childcare industry. She brings a wealth of diverse experience to her role, having experience as a nanny, a nanny agency owner, and having employed a nanny for her children.
Rachel is a big proponent of developing and adhering to high industry standards. Her dedication is evident through her two terms on the Board of Directors of the International Nanny Association. An active participant in industry conferences, Rachel speaks at events hosted by the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies, the International Nanny Association, iNNTD, and NannyPalooza.
Incorporating expertise, warmth, and a commitment to excellence, Rachel plays a pivotal role at HomeWork Solutions, contributing to our mission of providing top-notch solutions for household employers.
Thomas came to HomeWork Solutions from the restaurant and hospitality industry. He spent time as a Tasting Room Manager at a winery and as a cook in a fine dining restaurant. Throughout his time here he has become an expert in state and local taxes, putting his attention to detail and customer service skills to work. He has also become an expert on employer account creation and taxing systems across the country.
Thomas has a B.S. in Sociology and Business Management from Shenandoah University
Joe assists families understand their obligations as household employers and ensures our clients get their relationship with their nanny, caregiver or other household employee off to the right start. From nanny shares to companionship exemptions, Joe is there to walk our clients through every situation and concern with hiring a household employee. Joe liaisons with our referral partners to ensure their clients get the concierge level of service they are accustomed to providing to their own clients. He consults with our enrollment and payroll team to ensure our clients get setup with state and federal tax ID numbers and transition into service expeditiously and without fail.
With a career spanning 17 years in the household employment industry, Franny Wood is driven by a passion for community and childcare. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Through her extensive experience, she has gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of household employment tax law. As a proponent of fair and legal pay, Franny now uses her expertise to advise both employers and employees on tax obligations and how they can both benefit from total compensation employment arrangements through her work with HomeWork Solutions.
